The Polish–Swedish War was a phase of the Polish–Swedish War (1600–1629), a series of conflicts between the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and Sweden. It began in August 1621, when Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden invaded the Commonwealth territory of Livonia and besieged Riga, one of the wealthiest and most important ports in Europe.
