Makassar War, also known as the conquest of Makassar, was a conflict between the Gowa Sultanate and Dutch East India Company supported by its local ally, Sultanate of Bone, lasted from 24 November 1666 to 24 June 1669. The war resulted in Gowa's defeat by the VOC–Bone alliance, emphasized by the signing of the Treaty of Bungaya, which led the maritime empire of the Makassans fell—replaced by Bone as a dominated polity in South Sulawesi.
