Deutsch: Südsüdwestansicht der Burgruine Landskron in der Kärntner Stadtgemeinde Villach.
In einer Urkunde vom 25. Juli 1351 wird „Landskron“ zum ersten Mal genannt. Die Burg kam 1511 in den Besitz des St.-Georg-Ritterordens und brannte 1542 ab. Anschließend kaufte Christoph Khevenhüller (1503–1557), Landeshauptmann von Kärnten, am 8. Juli 1542 Landskron und die Brandruine wurde zu einem prunkvollen, wehrhaften Herrensitz der Renaissance ausgebaut. Da der Johann Khevenhüller (1597–1632), Graf von Frankenburg, Herr zu Landskron und Velden, im schwedischen Heer gegen die kaiserliche Armee kämpfte, wurde ein Hochverratsprozess geführt, seine Besitzungen von Kaiser Ferdinand II. eingezogen und Landskron 1639 an den katholischen Siegmund Ludwig Graf Dietrichstein, verkauft: [1]. Nach einem Blitzschlag im Jahr 1812 brannte das Prunkschloss völlig aus und wurde dem Verfall preisgegeben: [2]. 1913 kam die Ruine in den Besitz der Familie Maresch-Wittgenstein. 1952 begann Hans (Johann) Maresch (1906–1971), Großgrundbesitzer im Rosental, mit einer Revitalisierung der Burgruine und richtete dort einen Gastbetrieb ein: [3].
