Summary

Description
English: An 1846 political cartoon about the Mexican–American War depicting a beardless Uncle Sam figure (representing the United States), his boot labeled "Texas", kicking a shorter figure representing "Mexico" while about to cut him in half with a gigantic pair of scissors labeled "Volunteers" and "Gen. Taylor" (referring to American general Zachary Taylor and his volunteer army). The Uncle Sam figure is kicking Mexico across a river labeled "Rio Grande", referring to the Rio Grande. To the right, a caricature of England, John Bull, looks on enviously at Americas' expansionism.
