English: Air Attacks on German U-boats, WWII: Two U.S. Navy Consolidated PBY from Patrol Squadron 63 (VP-63), piloted by Lieutenant Junior Grade T.R. Wooley and Lieutenant R. J. Baker aided by two Royal Navy destroyers HMS Anthony (R40) and HMS Wishant (I67) sank German U-boat, U-761, in the Strait of Gibraltar on 24 February 1944. 47 of the 57 German sailors aboard survived.
