Description

The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Mullinnix (DD-944) off the Brazilian Navy yard, Rio de Janeiro, on 14 July 1958, during the visit of the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61) to Brazil. Brazilian warships in background include L-R: Jose Bonifacio (AGS), Baependi (D-17), Sirius (H-21), Mariz E. Barros (D-26), Duque de Caxias (U-11), bark Guanabara, Bocaina (D-22), and Barroso Pereira (G-16).

USS Ranger (CVA-61), with assigned Carrier Air Group 14 (CVG-14), was on her way around Cape Horn from Norfolk, Virginia, to Alameda, California (USA), from 20 June to 20 August 1958.
