Description
English: The U.S. Navy combat stores ship USS Mars (AFS-1) underway in Subic Bay, Philippines, circa in 1987.
Note: The date is given as 1 January 1995 (by NARA, EXIF data 1 January 1985!), but this has to be incorrect. On 1 February 1993, Mars was decommissioned and placed in service by the Military Sealift Command as USNS Mars (T-AFS-1). She was disarmed and the funnel painted with the MSC-stripes. Here, Mars is still armed and the original file name "330-CFD-DN-ST-87-09104" shows that the photo was taken circa in 1987.
