Summary

Description

The U.S. Navy small seaplane tender USS Gannet (AVP-8) at Taku Glacier in 1935. The Gannet had originally been commissioned as a minesweeper (AM-41), but was converted to a small seaplane tender. She was lost on 7 June 1942 after having been torpedoed by the German U-boat U-653 off Bermuda.
