Summary

Description The U.S. Navy fast combat support ship USS Detroit (AOE-4) refueling the aircraft carrier USS Independence (CV-62) and the Royal Navy Leander-class frigate HMS Scylla (F71) during a NATO exercise in 1979. The Independence, with Carrier Air Wing 6 (CVW-6) embarked, was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea from 28 June to 14 December 1979.
