She carried units of the 1st Marine Raider Battalion in the initial assault landings on Guadalcanal on 7 August 1942 and continued to serve as both transport and antisubmarine vessel in support of the invasion. At 1400 on 30 August, while Colhoun was on patrol off Guadalcanal, she was sunk in a Japanese air raid. | ||
