Summary

Description
English: The Flodden Tree This tree was planted to commemorate Thomas de Berkeley's actions in successfully commanding a large troop on men at the battle of Flodden in 1513. He was rewarded with the honour of knighthood on the field of battle for his services from the Earl of Surrey, who commanded the English army. The ground around the tree has built up over the centuries and relatively recently it was showing signs of suffocation of the roots, hence the depression now excavated around the base to alleviate the problem.
