DescriptionTakao class heavy cruiser Chokai.jpg	English: Takao class heavy cruiser Chokai, date unknown. Japanese flagship during the overwhelming victory at Savo Island in August 1942, she went on to be sunk in the battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944: though some of her crew were picked up by a destroyer that too was sunk, so none survived. Her wreck lies in 26000 feet of water - one of the deepest known anywhere.
