Official name:- Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G Ordnance Inventory Designation:- Sd.Kfz.142/1 Main Armament:- 75mm StuK 37 L/43 gun In November 1943 this StuG, along with eleven others and two Jagdpanzers, was being transported to Russia aboard the ‘Sante Fe’ when the ship was torpedoed and sunk. The wreck of the ship was discovered by divers and during 2002 two of the StuGs were recovered. This example came to the SdKfz Foundation, since renamed the Weald Foundation, and has been painstackingly restored to original condition. It is seen parked outside the Conservation Centre during TankFest 2019 The Tank Museum, Bovington Camp, Dorset, UK. 29th June 2019 |
