English: RMS Atrato, built by Robert Napier & Co of Govan, Glasgow in 1888 for the Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. 5,366 GRT, 3,069 NRT. 421.2 x 50 x 25 ft. Viking Cruising Co bought her in 1912 and renamed her The Viking. The Admiralty requisitioned her in 1914, converted her to an armed merchant cruiser and commissioned her as HMS Viknor. On 13 January 1915 she disappeared in the North Atlantic northwest of Ireland with the loss of 284 lives, sunk possibly by a mine.
