Description
English: The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5) being abandoned by her crew after she was hit by two Japanese Type 91 aerial torpedoes, 4 June 1942. The destroyer USS Balch (DD-363) is standing by at right. Note the oil slick surrounding the damaged carrier, and inflatable life raft being deployed off her stern. Note that the wartime censor has erased the CXAM-radar aboard Yorktown.
Español: El portaaviones de la Armanda de los Estados Unidos USS Yorktown (CV-5) siendo abandonado por su tripulación después de ser golpeado por dos torpedos aéreos japoneses Tipo 91, el 4 de junio de 1942. El destructor USS Balch (DD-363) está a la derecha. Obsérvese la mancha de aceite que rodea al portaaviones dañado, y la balsa salvavidas inflable que se despliega en su popa.
