Français : Le faible nombre de navires transport de trains va pousser à l'emploi de LST " spécialement aménagés en Ferry Train " (le faible tirant d'eau des LST leur permet d'accoster en se jouant des hauts-fonds)

Le secteur nord du Terre-Plein des Mielles (à droite de la darse des Mielles) du port de Cherbourg est choisi, il pourra accueillir 6 LST Ferries Trains simultanément. Les trains pouvant grâce au nouveau réseau construit par les alliés, rejoindre le nœud ferroviaire de la Gare Maritime. Travaux réalisés par le 342nd Eng General Service Rgt C'est d'ici que ces photos ont été prises, le 31 juillet 1944, le premier LST Ferry Train (LST-21) arrive et décharge le premier train, au terre-plein des Mielles sur la commune de Tourlaville. Pour réussir à décharger le train depuis les LST un système de bâti-rampe mobile est réalisé, la rampe mobile glisse jusqu'à arriver au niveau du pont inférieur du LST permettant l'ajustement final.
