Nederlands: Het briefje rechtsonder vermeldt: op 8 augustus 1648 arriveerde de retourvloot uit Indië onder commando van Wollebrand Geleynsz de Jongh in Nederland. Hier is het vertrek van de vloot uit Batavia weergegeven. Twaalf schepen vol kostbare Aziatische producten. Met op de Walvis Wollebrand. De thuisreis duurde acht maanden.
Voorgesteld is de vloot die onder leiding van Wollebrand Geleynsz. de Jongh vanuit Batavia de terugreis naar Nederland aanvaardde. De vloot werd in 1647 op de rede van Batavia gevormd. Hij bestond uit twaalf schepen, die geladen waren met kostbare Oosterse producten.
English: The inscription below right announces: on 8 August 1648, the return fleet arrived in the Netherlands from the Indies, commanded by Wollebrand Geleynsz de Jongh. Here the artist shows the fleet about to leave Batavia. Twelve ships full of expensive Asian produce. With Wollebrand onboard the Walvis. The voyage home took eight months. |
