English: Page 180 From De volkomen beschryvinge der voortreffelijcke reyzen van de deurluchtige reysiger Pietro della Valle, edelman van Romen, in veel voorname gewesten des Werelts gedaan, vol.2. The capture of Tabriz from the Ottoman Turks by the Safavid army of Shah Abbas I took place on October 21, 1603, after twenty days fighting during the Ottoman–Safavid War (1603–1618). Local citizens welcomed the Safavid army as liberators and took harsh reprisals against the defeated Ottoman Turks who had been occupying their city. Many unfortunate Turks fell into the hands of Tabriz’s citizens and were decapitated.
