This Redoubt was built in 1715-16. It was sited in Ramla Bay Gozo in the middle of the bay were today there is the statue of the Madonna. According to Samut-Tagliaferro stretches of the foundations of the Redoubt can be traced below the level of the sand.

In the schemes of coastal defence batteries were positioned at the head of the bay while the redoubts were positioned in the Middle of the bay. The aim was to stop the enemy from establishing a beachhead in the bay and from outflanking the batteries.
