ജന്മിത്വത്തിനും, ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി സി. പി. രാമസ്വാമി അയ്യറിനുമെതിരെ കമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് പാർട്ടിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടത്തിയ പ്രക്ഷോഭമായിരുന്നു പുന്നപ്ര-വയലാർ സമരം. ഈ സമരത്തിൽ മരിച്ച രക്തസാക്ഷികളുടെ സ്മരണയ്ക്കായി ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിലെ പുന്നപ്രക്കും വയലാറിനും ഇടയിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള നിരവധി സ്മാരകങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ഇത്. |
