<a href="http://www.olivenca.org" rel="nofollow">www.olivenca.org</a> A porta do Calvário é a único sobrevivente das três que teve a muralha de baluarte. Foi a única monumental e mantém o seu desenho original, em mármore granulado, orientada para o Guadiana. É parte da fortificação abaluartada, construída no século XVII, com as Guerras da Restauração. Esta muralha tinha três portas, das quais mantém apenas o mais monumental, o Calvário, de frente para o Guadiana. Dentro do túnel a meia altura e os lados, se abrem janelas espalmadas em mármore, o que corresponde ao corpo de guarda.
