Summary

Description
English: Nîmes (Gard, Languedoc, France), second temporary exhibition of the brand new Museum of Romanity :Pompii, a forgotten story. Reproduction of a naval bronze ram from the battle of the Aegates Islands, therefore from the 3rd century BC. This ram is one of the 19 discovered so far on the site of the naval battle between Romans and Carthaginians on March 10, 241 BC having put an end to the first Punic war, the Roman fleet having been victorious. This spur, a purely Roman invention, was at the bow of the galleys and, once the enemy boat rammed, fell to allow the galley to quickly depart without being dragged by the sinking boat.
