Summary

Description
English: The village of Kernstown was located a few miles south of Winchester, Va. Jackson's Confederates attacked with the intention of drawing Union forces away from the Army of the Potomac's position on the Virginia Peninsula. Kernstown is considered to be the opening engagement of Jackson's Shenandoah Valley Campaign.
