Summary

Description

Fort de la Montagne. Évolution du site: à gauche, vers 1700 et à droite vers 1830. Vers 1854, les sulpiciens quittent le Vieux-Montréal et installent un collège sur le site de leur ancienne ferme de la montagne. Ils utilisent pour le nouveau bâtiment la pierre calcaire extraite de leur carrière locale. Ils démolissent ce qui reste des fortifications qui entouraient leur premier établissement, tout en conservant les deux tours Sud qui donnent sur la rue Sherbrooke.

Une des plus anciennes photographies datant de 1859 (voir ci-bas) nous montre l'aspect du site un peu avant que ne disparaisse le bâtiment central construit vers 1830.
