Summary
DescriptionMitsubishi J2M J-WNRD model.jpg
As an Unlimited Air Racer - this is the Hasegawa kit, basicly stock except I faired and removed all the armament, omitted the bullet proof glass and put on a prop from an Airfix P-61 Black Widow since it was bigger and presumably this air racer would have serious extra horsepower to couple to the air stream...
When I built this I was working for Advantest, so I painted their corporate "Wine Red" color over basic high-tech cool gray. Actual, modern, Japanese registrations are J-#### with numerals, but I liked J-WNRD to I kept it. The Chinese characters between "T2000" and "J-WNRD" are for "Air Force", taken from an L&S Mitsubishi "NELL" decal from a kit I bought in 1971... Good stuff, it worked just fine. "T2000" was the open architecture product I was working on, so "T2000 Air Force" and #1 :^)
This plane in particular looks so much like an optimized air racer that I can't help think it would make a nice a good one... not that there are a couple dozen hanging around waiting to be converted. I think Planes of Fame has 1, and perhaps one other is in Japan, neither in flying condition.
