Summary

Description A U.S. Navy Martin MBT (BuNo A5711), the first of the Martin bombers procured by the Navy, pictured on the ground, probably at Marine Flying Field Quantico, Virginia (USA). This aircraft was completed on 9 January 1920, and accepted by the Navy on 19 February 1920. Its first assignment was to NAS Anacostia in Washington D.C. on 23 April 1920, and it was transferred to Yorktown, VA, on 28 September of that same year. The aircraft's final assignment was Marine Flying Field Quantico, where it served from 26 Septmeber 1921 until 28 December 1922. On that day it suffered a Lougerou crack that was deemed unrepairable. The aircraft was stricken on 3 February 1923.
