Description
English: Royal Navy Type 42 destroyer HMS Manchester is pictured operating in the Atlantic Ocean near Gibraltar. HMS Manchester is the third ship to bear the name and was launched on the 24 November 1980. On her funnel she carries a bee which is taken from the coat of arms of the City of Manchester, signifying industry and endeavour. She has battle honours from Norway and Spartivento, in 1940, the Arctic and the Malta convoys in 1942 and the Persian Gulf in 1991.
