Summary

Description
English: Post patrol administration is carried out by personnel deployed on Op Newcombe following an 18-day long range reconnaissance patrol across Mali. The Long-Range Reconnaissance Group (LRRG) comprising of the Queens Dragoon Guards and other attachments are deployed on Op NEWCOMBE in Mali, West Africa. Operation NEWCOMBE covers the UK’s support to MINUSMA in two separate and concurrent British non-combat military operations in Mali.: logistical and airlift support to the French-led Operation Barkhane, which later saw the deployment of a detachment of Chinook transport helicopters, before shifting its emphasis to UN peacekeeping in 2020. The operation ultimately drew to a close on 14 November 2022 due to political instability in the country. The second was the Long-Range Reconnaissance Group (Mali) (LRRG(M)), tasked with peacekeeping support through intelligence gathering and long-range patrols. In December 2020 the Task Group deployed to Gao as the first rotation of soldiers to take part in the UN mission.
