English: Lockheed A-12 on board the Intrepid
The Lockheed A-12 was a reconnaissance aircraft built for the Central Intelligence Agency and was the precursor to both the U.S. Air Force YF-12 interceptor and the famous SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft. This A-12 was the first production unit. It served as a radar-test example early in 1962 at the secret base Area 51.Nederlands: Lockheed A-12 aan boord van de Intrepid.
De Lockheed A-12 was een eenpersoonsverkenningsvliegtuig, dat werd gebouwd in opdracht van de CIA. De A-12 was de voorloper van zowel de YF-12 onderscheppingsjager als de SR-71 Blackbird. |
