Español: Lautaro, Esmeralda, Pezuela, 1818 en Valparaíso: Fragata chilena Lautaro, al mando del comandante George O’Brien, atacando a los buques españoles que bloquean Valparaíso, 27 de marzo de 1818. En la escena se observa a dicha fragata atacando e intentando aproximarse a la fragata española Esmeralda, a la que abordó y estuvo a punto de tomar. Esta captura fracasó y el comandante O’Brien perdió la vida en el intento, pero este combate tuvo el efecto de levantar el bloqueo de Valparaíso y hacer perder a los españoles su espíritu ofensivo. En segundo plano, hacia la izquierda de la imagen, se observa al bergantín español Pezuela. Reproducción de una ilustración de la época de autor desconocido, de origen probablemente inglés, como lo denota la explicación de la misma (fuera de la imagen).
