Summary

Description A U.S. Navy Lockheed LC-130R Hercules aircraft of Antarctic Development Squadron 6 (VXE-6) prepares for takeoff on the skiway at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, for a supply flight with spares to support recovery of the LC-130F (BuNo 148321) that had crashed in 1971. The LC-130R (BuNo 159131) crashed at the recovery site D59, Antarctica, on 9 December 1987. 2 crew were killed, 9 were injured.
