Summary

Description A U.S. Navy Grumman F6F Hellcat fighter approaches an Independence-class light aircraft carrier in 1944. As the carrier wears Camouflage Measure 32 or 33, Design 8A, it is either USS Independence (CVL-22) or USS Bataan (CVL-29). The picture is one in a group of pictures of the USS Cabot (CVL-28), but she did not wear any dazzle pattern camouflage. Two Fletcher-class destroyers are visible in the background.
