Description

HM Survey vessel Alert was a wooden barque rigged Arctic Survey vessel with an auxiliary steam engine.

Built in 1856 she was sold the US Navy in 1884, and sold to the Canadian Government's Marine & Fisheries department in 1885.

She was scrapped in 1895.
