Summary

Description "Valiant" Class nuclear Hunter-Killer Submarine "HMS Valiant", 4,400 tons, launched in 1963, completed in 1966. The "Valiants" introduced a British-designed "rafting" system for quite running which the USN was very sceptical about. However, the system worked as intended resulting in the quietest submarines in the world at the time. Eventually, the USN adopted the same system. Outboard is Dutch submarine "HNLS Zwaardvis". At Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth Navy Day, 08/77. Scanned slide.
