English: Pictured: A Royal Navy Weapons Maintainer prepares the belt feed for the 30mm gun. HMS Medway has tested its operational capability by firing its 30mm DS30M Mark 2 Naval Gun with concise precision on moving targets over 3km away. HMS Medway is one of the RN’s Offshore Patrol Vessels which help protect the UK’s interests at home and abroad, safeguarding territorial waters, protecting fishing stocks, performing constabulary duties and acting as the eyes, ears and representatives of the Navy and nation wherever they patrol. The 30mm DS30M Mark 2 Naval Gun was designed to defend Royal Navy frigates and OPV's from fast inshore attack craft armed with short-range missiles, rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns or explosives. The weapon can be controlled from a remote operator console elsewhere on the ship or controlled manually from the gunnery seat.
