'C' Class ('Ca' Group) Standard War Emergency Destroyer HMS Caprice, 1,710 tons, launched 1943, commissioned 1944 moored alongside HMS Belfast at London Bridge, 02/73. HMS Caprice served in the Home Fleet 1944-45 on Arctic Convoy duties and on carrier strikes against German bases and shipping in Norway; in 1945 she went to the East Indies Fleet. She was the last WWII destroyer in service and paid off the next month although not scrapped until 1979-80. Note the two for'ard 4.5" DP QF L/45 Mk.IV guns on CP Mk.V mounts. Scanned slide.
