Summary
| Description | "A" Class Submarine "HMS Alcide", 1,120 tons, launched 1945, as rebuilt with a sail conning tower at Devonport Dockyard during the Plymouth Navy Day, 08/61. The "A's" were designed specifically for Pacific operations and were the best submarines Britain produced in WWII. "Alcide" is moored next to the Submarine Depot Ship "HMS Adamant" (12,700 tons, launched 1940). Scanned photograph taken with a simple Brownie 127, hence dubious quality. |
