The Gyrojet Rocket Carbine was tested at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico in 1966. The intent was to man the Gyrojet to test an electronic tracking system designed to track a rocket at launch when it undergoes extreme acceleration. The rocket reaches maximum velocity at 50 feet in a tenth of a second and acquire the 400 G ratio (17,000 feet per second) then assumes the charactericstics of a .45 caliber projectile.
