Summary
| Description |
German transport of heavy crane used on various places during World War II. This particular crane is on its way up to Fjell festning, or MKB 11/504, a German coastal fortress on Sotra, outside Bergen, Norway. The crane was used for construction and fitting of the B-tower from the battleship "Gneisenau". Three vehicles (one of which can be seen in this picture) was used to tow the crane up to the aera where the fortress was being built. The picture is from December 1942, possibly 20 December 1942. In the background "Krossleitehaugen" can be seen. A little to the right by a small stream, the first Prisoner of War camp was built. However, it is not possible to see the houses (or sheds) in this picture. |
