Fort Brown was one of a series of fortified stations built on the Great Fish River by the Royal Engineers in 1841 during the frontier wars of the Eastern Cape. You can visit the old fort which now lies inside the precincts of a police station. All you have to do is sign a book in the charge office. You’ll find it on the R67 to Grahamstown.
