British Warships attack Taiping-held villages and junks on the Yangtze River – one of a series of contemporary watercolours depicting the event in detail. A visual record of the joint-Chinese Imperial and British naval actions against Taiping rebels who had seized control of this strategic Yangtze River city only two months before.
