English: It bears the inscription VICTORY OR DEATH. It belonged to the Greek Corps of Volunteers, which took part in the Crimean War on Russian side against England and France in 1854.
This war sparked liberation revolts in Ottoman occupied Epirus and Thessaly and led to intervenion and occupation of Piraeus by French naval forces.
