Inscription: TO THE DEAR MEMORY OF ROBERT BARTON LATE CAPTAIN IN THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS WHO WHILE SECOND IN COMMAND OF THE FRONTIER LIGHT HORSE IN ZULULAND WAS KILLED IN ACTION AT THE ZLOBANE MOUNTAIN ON THE 28TH MARCH 1879 WHILE TRYING TO SAVE THE LIFE OF A WOUNDED COMRADE. THIS FONT IS ERECTED BY HIS SISTER BEATRICE MASSY. BE THOU FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH AND I WILL GIVE THEE A CROWN OF LIFE. REV II 10 |
