Summary
DescriptionDestroyers at Oakland 1934 (51046065661).jpg
Six Clemson Class Destroyers pier side at US Navy Base with a Lapwing class minesweeper beyond. Four of the ships can be identified, USS Sicard DD-346, USS Pruitt DD-347, USS Broome DD-210 and USS Southard DD-207. Most of the Lapwing class ships were reclassified as small seaplane tenders ( AVP ) or as fleet tugs ( AT ) by the time of this photo, this one appears to be acting as a tug. This photo was dated 1934 on back and gives the location taken as Oakland Ca.
