Description

De Havilland Vampire Country of Origin: Britain Speed 880 kph Range 2250 km. One of the first jet fighters, with some wooden parts, in the Middle East, the Vampire served in the Egyptian, Syrian, Jordanian, Iraqi, and Lebanese Air Forces. Two Egyptian Vampires were shot down ab an IAF Gloster Meteor in 1955 in the first jet dogfight in the Middle East. Another Vampire was shot down in 1956 by an Israeli Dassault Ouragan and four additional Vampires were brought down by Israeli Mysteres in the course of the Sinai campaign.
