English: In the souq behind the the Sinan Paşa Mosque there is this old gate, the Bab al-Jabiyeh, named after the first settlement in the Hauran, later abandoned. In it blocks or Roman origin are reused. It dates from 1164 with some further work that was completed in 1227. A Roman gate on this spot marked the western end of the Straight Street.
