| Notes | Part of wooden chandelier from St Paul's Church, Emily Place (at the foot of Princess Street) Auckland. Erected by members of the 50th Regiment. The original St. Paul's was the first church to be built in Auckland. The foundation stone was laid by Governor Captain William Hobson in 1841 and was consecrated by Bishop Selwyn in 1844. The 50th Regiment, The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment (“The Dirty Half Hundred”) had a detachment of two companies in New Zealand in 1834 and was in New Zealand between 1863–67 as the 50th (West Kent) Regiment. see- http-www.teara.govt.nz-en-1966-british-troops-in-new-zealand-page-3 Very little has been written about the regiment's early period in New Zealand. According to nzhistory.net "The man-of-war HMS Alligator and the colonial schooner Isabella arrived in Taranaki in September 1834 with a detachment of 60 men from the 50th Regiment. These soldiers were the first British troops to come into armed combat with Māori."
