Sous le commandement du capitaine de vaisseau L'Herminier, le sous-marin Casabianca réussit le 27 novembre 1942 à s'échapper du port de Toulon investi par l'armée allemande. Il participe à de nombreuses missions sur les côtes Corse et de Provence.
