English: Carleton Castle ruins, Lendalfoot, South Ayrshire, Scotland. A legend is associated with the castle as it was held of Sir John Cathcart who made a fortune in dowaries through a number of marriages which all ended with him murdering his wives. May Kennedy of Culzean was his final wife who was wise to the ploy and pushed him off a cliff. It is said that his ghost still haunts the castle today.
