Notes Little Prose Masterpieces no. 5. The device of Foulis is on the title page. De Beaumont has noted on the upper endpaper recto: ’Royal National PBFA 8.08 £18 Publisher’s binding? Top edge gilt. Deckled foredge and tail. Cream endpapers and pastedowns. Purple calf. The upper and lower covers have a single rule blocked on the borders. The gilt central vignette on the upper cover features an oval, surrounded by stylised stems and buds. The pallet of “[William] Pender Edin.” Is blocked in blind on the upper cover turn-in, at the base. The spine is divided by cords into four panels. Panel two has gilt letters: “/Pet/ Mar-/ jorie/”. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark 10827a45
